Early menopause - premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)
Around one in 20 women experience the menopause (the final cessation of ovulation and menstrual bleeding) before their 45th birthday and 1% experience the menopause at 40 or younger. And in most cases, pregnancies are hardly possible a few years earlier.
For years, I have been working very intensively on issues relating to "reproductive ageing" and, in particular, premature menopause, and I have repeatedly realised how important it is to pay close attention to symptoms and indications of premature ovarian dysfunction and then to clarify these specifically through appropriate examinations. After all, time is of the essence when it comes to a possible desire to have children, as every month counts: men should now mature as many follicles as possible in the ovaries as quickly as possible, retrieve the eggs and fertilise them or freeze them unfertilised. If this situation affects relatively young women, in contrast to women close to the natural menopause, it has the advantage that each egg cell has a very high development capacity and therefore a high chance of pregnancy (see also "Reproductive Ageing“ sowie „Kinder ja – aber später„).
In any case, it is important to carry out a rapid and targeted diagnosis and, if necessary, to plan further steps with regard to family planning that may not yet be complete. I am available to provide you with an independent and open-ended online consultation on these sensitive topics and on your individual situation.
Under the menu items "Appointments" and "Contact" you will find all the details on how you can arrange a personal online appointment with me.
