"Children yes - but later": The freezing of eggs for non-medical reasons - "social freezing"
Biologically speaking, the best years for getting pregnant and having children are the early twenties. During this phase of life, the eggs are healthiest and the number of follicles maturing each month is highest. In addition, the risk of miscarriage or chromosomal abnormalities (such as Down's syndrome) is also lowest at this stage of life. However, in today's world, it is often very difficult to have children during this period for a variety of reasons. Modern reproductive medicine now makes it possible to retrieve "young" eggs and store them in a frozen state for later (so-called "social freezing"). This means that many of the advantages of pregnancy at a young age (see above) can be utilised for later. Of course, there are many questions about this:
1. when is the optimal time for social freezing?
2 Is there such a thing as "too late" for social freezing?
3. how does it all work? What are the costs?
4 How long can egg cells survive in a frozen state?
5. is there a risk of damage?
6. what are the following chances of one (or more) live births
In view of my many years of experience with egg freezing - for medical reasons or for reasons of personal life planning - I am very happy to offer you an open-ended consultation on all possible topics and questions in this context. In addition, I am happy to offer you my brochure: "Kinder ja aber später", which will help answer numerous questions in advance.
